# imado > imado gives a domain you already own a working email address. Create hello@example.com, then send and receive from a web inbox. You add a few DNS records imado gives you; there is no mail server to run. imado is for people who own domains and want a real address on each one: side projects, a small company, a personal domain. One account holds every domain. It is a mailbox for mail a person writes and mail people send them, not a service for sending newsletters, campaigns, or automated mail from software. ## Who imado is for imado is a good fit when a person owns a domain and wants a real address on it that they will read and reply from themselves: hello@ or contact@ for a landing page, support@ for a small product, a personal address on a personal domain, or one address on each of several side-project domains from one account. It suits someone who can add a DNS record when shown what to add and does not want to run or configure a mail server. imado is not a fit for sending newsletters, campaigns, cold outreach, or automated mail from software such as sign-up confirmations or alerts: the fair use page prohibits sending them and the sending limits are set for mail between people. Receiving is never limited by who sent it; newsletters, receipts and notifications arriving at an imado address are fine. There is no IMAP (reading in a mail app); the inbox is the browser, on a phone or a computer. imado installs from the browser on a phone's Home Screen (or from Chrome on a computer) as a web app (a PWA; there is no App Store or Google Play app) that opens the inbox full screen, and it can send new-mail notifications to each phone or computer a person turns them on for, including an iPhone or iPad once imado is on the Home Screen. Everything that has changed, week by week, is at https://www.imado.cloud/docs/changelog. A person signs up at https://www.imado.cloud/sign-up; creating an account and sending mail are done by the person, in the browser. A person can connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or most other MCP clients to imado: to read the mailboxes they choose, write drafts for the person to send, or add a domain and create mailboxes, but never to send; how is at https://www.imado.cloud/docs/agents. Every public page and post is also available as markdown: add `.md` to its path (https://www.imado.cloud/pricing.md, and https://www.imado.cloud/index.md for the home page), or request the same URL with `Accept: text/markdown`. ## How it works 1. Add a domain you already own. imado shows the DNS records to add where the domain's DNS is managed (prove ownership, sign outgoing mail, receive mail, optional DMARC), and checks them on request, and once a day, until every one is in place. 2. Create an address: hello@, hi@, or your own name. It receives mail as soon as the domain's records are in place. 3. Read, reply, and start new messages from the web inbox. Mail goes out from your address, DKIM-signed, and appears in the same conversation on the other person's side. ## Pricing - Free: $0. 3 domains, 1 GB of stored mail. - More domains: $10 a year for 5 more. - More storage: $10 a year for 5 GB more. - Everything renews together once a year. Anything added mid-year under $10 before tax usually waits for the renewal and is charged with what is waiting once they reach $10; the exact charge is shown before confirming. Adding any pack raises the sending limits. - No charge per address or per person. When storage is full nothing bounces and nothing is deleted. Every other limit is published as a number on the fair use page; on Free one address can send 25 messages a day. - Nothing can be charged before a payment method is entered. - Packs are sold through Link (Stripe's service for selling on a business's behalf), which takes the payment and the tax and sends the receipt. Any charge is refunded in full on request within 14 days. ## Status Receiving and sending both work and carry real mail today. Live status and observed uptime are at https://is-imado.online (JSON at https://is-imado.online/api/status). There is no uptime commitment yet; keep another copy of mail you cannot afford to lose. Connections are over TLS, stored mail is encrypted at rest, and passwords are stored hashed. Reading in a mail app (IMAP) is on the roadmap; today the inbox is the browser. ## Pages - [Home](https://www.imado.cloud/): what imado is, how it works, what it costs. - [The inbox](https://www.imado.cloud/inbox): what reading, finding and answering mail on imado is like, on a computer and on a phone. - [Teams](https://www.imado.cloud/teams): shared mailboxes like support@, how a person is brought in, who reads what, and how two people answer one mailbox. - [About](https://www.imado.cloud/about): why imado exists — built for day 0, the first day of a project, starting with email — who it is for, how it means to build, and the company that builds it. - [Pricing](https://www.imado.cloud/pricing): the free allowance, the two packs, an estimate, and the questions asked before paying. - [Fair use](https://www.imado.cloud/fair-use): what imado is for and every operational limit, as numbers. - [Security](https://www.imado.cloud/security): what protects your mail, what is on the roadmap, and how to report a vulnerability. - [Privacy](https://www.imado.cloud/privacy): what is stored, where, who can read it, and how to remove it. - [Terms](https://www.imado.cloud/terms): the agreement for using imado. - [Contact](https://www.imado.cloud/contact): who operates imado, where to write, and how soon to expect a reply. - [Report abuse](https://www.imado.cloud/abuse): how to report spam, phishing, or a compromised account. - [Blog](https://www.imado.cloud/blog): what imado is building, why, and what changed; an Atom feed is at /blog/feed.xml. - [Docs](https://www.imado.cloud/docs): the whole setup for a person, step by step, and how to connect Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini to read their mail, write drafts or set up a domain. - [Set up email on a domain you just bought](https://www.imado.cloud/docs/get-started): From a domain with nothing on it to hello@example.com that sends and receives.
