What “alpha” means for your mail

Receiving has worked since 1 September 2026 and sending since 3 September 2026. That is long enough to carry real mail, and not long enough to have met every way a mail system can fail. Mail can be delayed, and a bug on our side can stop a message reaching your inbox.

Keep another copy of any mail you would be upset to lose.

Two things are decided, alpha or not: we never reject mail because an account is over a limit, and we never delete old mail to make room for new mail.

• When something breaks, we tell you, rather than waiting for you to ask.
• If we lose or misdeliver your mail, we say so and tell you what we know, including when we do not know why.
• You can leave at any time, and take your mail with you. If the export you need does not exist yet, write to us and we will get it to you.
• We give notice before changing what the product does to mail you already have.

• No uptime commitment and no service credits. There is not yet enough history for a promise about uptime to mean anything.
• No guarantee that every feature stays. Things that turn out to be wrong will be changed or removed, with notice.
• Support is by email, answered by the people who build imado, within two working days.
• imado is free during the alpha and will not always be. We give notice before anything starts costing money.
• Images in a message load from the sender's servers when you open it, which can tell the sender it was opened. Loading them through our own servers is planned; the privacy page says what is true today.
• Attachments are not scanned for malware. A file is served exactly as it arrived, always as a download and never opened in the browser, so whether to open it is your decision.

The pricing page describes the full product. These parts are on the way, and the alpha works without them:

• Search across a mailbox. Today you read by mailbox and by thread.
• Forwarding an address on to another mailbox.
• Catch-all on Builder: mail to an address you never created still reaches you. Today an address has to exist to receive, except postmaster@ and abuse@, which reach the oldest address on any domain that has one.
• Moving a domain, with its addresses and mail, to another account.
• Removing stored mail, or your account, from inside the product. Today a written request is completed within 30 days.
• Loading images through our servers rather than the sender's.
• Two-factor sign-in.

Everyone who sends through imado shares one reputation with the mail providers that receive it. Low sending limits are how we stop one account's spam from getting everyone else's mail marked as spam.

The prices and plan numbers (3 domains and 1 GB on Free, 20 domains for $39 a year on Builder) are on the pricing page. Every other limit is on the fair use page, as a number. If you are about to hit one for an honest reason, write to us and we look at raising it.

Nothing is charged during the alpha. When paid plans start, we tell you by email first, and nothing can be charged until you enter a payment method.
