Questions
Before you pay.
Do I need to buy a domain from you?
No. Use a domain you already own, from any registrar. A plan's domain count is how many of your domains can have addresses on imado.
Do you charge per address or per mailbox?
No. Create the addresses your domains need, support@, hello@, one per person, at no charge each, up to 25 per domain on Free and 1,000 on Builder.
Do you charge per person?
No. Giving someone access to an inbox costs nothing extra, for up to 3 other people on Free and 1,000 on Builder.
I own a lot of domains. Is each one a subscription?
No. One account covers every domain you connect: 3 on Free, 20 on Builder, and $5 a year for each one beyond that, on either plan.
What happens when I connect domain number 21 on Builder?
It costs $5 a year more, and that is all. There is no larger plan, and every add-on renews on the same date as the plan.
I have one personal domain but a lot of mail. Do I need Builder?
No. One domain with 22 GB of mail stays on Free: the included 1 GB is $0, and 5 storage blocks take you to 26 GB for $50 a year. Builder is for more domains, catch-all, and higher sending limits.
What happens when my storage is full?
Mail keeps arriving, nothing bounces, and nothing is deleted. Your account page shows how much you have used; when it is full, you clear some space or add 5 GB for $10 a year.
What if a side project becomes a real company?
The company creates its own imado account and you move the domain into it, with its addresses and all their mail. The company's account pays for it from then on, and you can be a member of both accounts. Moving is coming after the alpha; until then, write to us and we do it for you.
What happens if I downgrade?
You choose which 3 of your domains stay on Free, and you can keep paying $5 a year for any others. A domain you stop paying for stops sending and receiving, but its mail stays in your account, readable, and the domain can be turned back on or its mail exported later.
Is this for newsletters or cold outreach?
No. imado is for mail between people. Newsletters, campaigns and mail your software sends belong on services built for them; the fair use page says exactly where the line is. Receiving is never limited by who sent it, so notifications and receipts arriving at your address are fine.
When would I actually pay, and how?
Not during the alpha. When paid plans start, we tell you by email before they apply to your account, and nothing can be charged until you enter a payment method. After that, one payment a year covers the plan and every add-on on it.
