Fair use

What imado is for, and what it is not for

imado is for mail between people, on domains you own. It is not for sending campaigns. Every limit is a number on this page, so nobody has to guess where the line is.

Why this policy exists

Everyone who sends through imado shares one reputation with the mail providers that receive it. If one account sends mail people did not ask for, Gmail and the rest start filing mail from every imado domain as spam, and our provider acts against the whole service, not the one sender. One account's campaign is what puts another customer's reply to a client in the spam folder. The limits below exist to stop that.

The limits

The pricing page has the two numbers with a price: how many of your domains can have addresses on imado, and how much mail you can store. Every other limit is here. We do not call anything unlimited.

Reaching one of these never costs money. If you have a real reason to need more, write to us; the answer is usually yes, and raising a limit is a change we can make the same day. A project below is how imado groups a domain with the people who can read its mail; one account can have several.

  • 3 active projects on Free and 20 on Builder, the same as each plan's domain count, so grouping domains into projects never costs you a domain you were promised.
  • 10 mailboxes per project on Free, 250 on Builder. A project that needs more gets the ceiling raised after a short review, never a charge per mailbox.
  • 25 addresses and aliases per domain on Free, 1000 on Builder, and each address can forward to 5 places on Free and 20 on Builder. These stop runaway configurations; ordinary use does not come near them.
  • 3 collaborators per project on Free and 1,000 on Builder, at no charge per person, raised on request for a project that has more people.
  • Each mailbox can send 25 messages a day on Free and 100 on Builder, within 100 and 1,000 recipient deliveries a day across the whole account.
  • 10 new correspondents a day on Free, 250 on Builder. Replying to someone, or writing to anyone you have written to before, does not count towards it, so ordinary use does not meet this number and a campaign does.
  • For its first 7 days a new account can write to 5 new people a day. This is how mail systems introduce a sender nobody has seen before, and it lifts on its own.
  • 25 MB per message, attachments included, and up to 20 recipients on one message, low on purpose: a message to more people than that is a campaign.
  • On Builder, catch-all receiving carries a circuit breaker of 2,000 catch-all deliveries a month. Past it we tell you and can pause the catch-all while every address you created keeps working, so a flood of guessed addresses never interferes with your real mail.

Receiving is not rationed

We do not meter or charge for the mail you receive. You did not choose what arrives, so a price on it would depend on other people's behaviour.

There are circuit breakers, currently 25,000 messages per domain per month on Free and 50,000 on Builder, but they exist for mail loops and dictionary attacks, and ordinary use does not come near them. If one trips, we look at the traffic and contact you; we do not send a bill.

If your storage is full, mail keeps arriving. We never reject a message because an account is over its storage, and we never delete old mail to make room for new. Your account page shows how much you have used; the fix is to clear space or add storage.

What you may not use imado for

  • Marketing campaigns, newsletters, or any mail sent to a list of people at once.
  • Cold outreach, or mail to addresses that were bought, scraped, or otherwise collected without the recipient asking to hear from you.
  • Mail sent by software you run: password resets, receipts, notifications. imado is a mailbox, not a sending API. Receiving such mail is fine.
  • Sending on behalf of anyone else, reselling access, or relaying mail from another system through your account.
  • Phishing, spoofing, malware, or anything designed to deceive the person receiving it.
  • Anything illegal where you are, or where the recipient is.

Forwarding your own mail on, and the occasional message you write to a handful of people, are both fine. The test is whether a person wrote it and a person expected it.

What happens if this is ignored

Almost always, we pause sending on the domain and email you about it the same day. Receiving keeps working, your mail stays readable, and you can export it. We would rather talk than close an account.

We suspend immediately, without that conversation, only for phishing, malware, or illegal content, where the delay itself does the damage.

Either way you can reply and ask us to look again. Tell us what we have got wrong and we tell you what we found.

Reporting abuse

If you received unwanted mail from an address on imado, tell us at ashish.so@zivaro.ai and include the full message headers if you can. We read these ourselves, and we act on them. The abuse page says what to include and what happens next.
