What's new in imado
What you can do in imado now that you could not before, newest first, week by week.
imado gives a domain you already own a working email address: you connect the domain, create an address like hello@yourdomain.com, and read and reply in your browser (get started). Fixes that change nothing you do are left out.
First week of October 2026
Remove a domain
SetupOpen a domain in your project's Domains and choose Remove domain at the bottom. Mail sent to its addresses stops arriving, everything already received stays, and the domain can be added again later.
Add packs to the plan you pay for
AccountHow packs are pricedIn Account → Plan, choose Add packs (or press A) to add domains or storage to the year you already pay for. You see the exact charge before you confirm, for the months left until your renewal; a small amount waits for the renewal instead of being charged on its own.
New-mail notifications
MailHow they work, and whyWhen mail arrives in a mailbox you can read (your own, or one shared with you), your phone or computer shows who it is from and the subject. Tap it to open the conversation.
- Turn them on for each device in the inbox's Settings → Notifications, and mute any mailbox; a mute applies only to you.
- On an iPhone or iPad, add imado to the Home Screen as a web app first: Apple sends notifications only to web apps installed there.
- The sender's name is shown only when their domain has proved it sent the message; otherwise you see the address.
- Signing out stops notifications on that device; resetting your password stops them on every device, so a lost phone stops showing your mail.
Fourth week of September 2026
Install imado as a web app
PhoneInstall it, step by stepChoose Install app from the account menu. It opens straight to your inbox and uses the whole screen. On an iPhone or iPad we show Safari's two steps, Share then Add to Home Screen. It is imado's website, installed from the browser; there is no imado app in the App Store or Google Play.
Back, a bottom bar, swipe and Undo on a phone
PhoneBack returns you from a conversation to the list. The bar at the bottom shows Reply and Done first. Swipe a conversation's row to move it to Done without opening it. Moving a conversation offers Undo for a few seconds (Z on a keyboard).
Share a mailbox
SetupInvite someone by email address to read and reply from the mailboxes you choose, signed in as themselves, at no extra cost.
Guides for your DNS host
SetupFind your hostStep-by-step guides for Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun, DigitalOcean, Hostinger, Hover, Netlify, Amazon Route 53, Spaceship, Squarespace and Vercel: where the DNS records go and what each host's form calls the fields.
Buy more domains or storage
AccountSee the pricesPacks of extra domains and extra storage, bought from your account and billed together once a year.
Third week of September 2026
Folders
MailMail is sorted into Inbox, Sent, Done and Spam. Done is where a conversation goes once you have dealt with it, like archiving. Move a conversation to Done or Spam from the bar (E and ! on a keyboard). Mail flagged as spam when it arrives goes straight to Spam.
The setup API, for an agent working for you
AgentsThe page an agent readsCreate a key in Account → API keys and give it to an agent: it can connect your domains and create mailboxes for you. A key can never read your mail or your bill, and you can revoke one by name.
Mail settings
MailChoose how mail is shown (as the sender wrote it, or plain text), whether remote images load, whether replies quote the message, and the theme. Set the name people see when you send from each mailbox.
A faster inbox
MailThe inbox keeps an encrypted copy of your mail in your browser, so lists and conversations open at once. Signing out removes it.
Domains checked every day
Setupimado checks each domain's DNS records daily and emails you if a setup step is still missing.
Search, shortcuts and replies in the conversation
MailSearch a mailbox, reply below the message you are reading, and use keyboard shortcuts throughout (press ? to see them).
Second week of September 2026
An account you can always recover
AccountThe address you sign in with can never be an imado address, so sign-in and password-reset email always reaches you.
imado launches
SetupIntroducing imadoConnect a domain you already own, create addresses like hello@, and send and receive from an inbox in your browser.
